Back Room Tips and tricks
Some ideas shown:
1. Black “Y” type strainers on water lines prevent debris from causing solenoid valve malfunctions. These valves last many hundreds of thousands of cycles without failure.
2. All solenoid valves, air and water, triggered by the controller have a shutoff before them, and are wired via a typical male electrical plug into an outlet wired to the controller function. This makes swapping out a bad coil or valve very easy. (I have 1 place where they are all hard wired with Liquitite conduit. This is much easier / faster.) Where possible, electrical outlets are mounted above or to the side of any water line. The white box similarly wired is the Viper Shine PLC.
3.It is somewhat difficult to make out but a single pipe for air serves all pumping stations. At the supply to this pipe pictured just above the bucket with the pink liquid is an automatic water drain.
4. Mounting individual pumping stations can be a pain. Instead, in the photos you can see 2 horizontal struts which run behind the stations. They are each held to the wall by bolts or threaded rod going completely thru the wall. (All struts are mounted this way after experiencing numerous anchors loosen over time in Block walls. ) Most stations are only attached to the top strut using strut catcher nuts. The bottom strut keeps the unit level. But as you can see it made for easy adjustment for various types and mfgrs of pumping stations, as needs changed. No addt’l drilling was required. Even a single Flo Jet Pump for the tire shine was easily mounted.
5. In the 12/30/08 vertical photo where the orange plug is shown, above and to the left, where the Black “Y” strainer is shown, is where I have a hot water line meet the cold water line that feeds the hydrominders so I can adjust the temp of these solutions.
6. Fancier Stainless, and schedule 80 PVC manifolds are available, however I have seen everything break over time, and I can get galvanized 7 days a week.
6. I try never to terminate my straight manifold sections but instead plug a “T”. Having addt’l access has come in handy many times.

Sorry, Things seemed to freeze if I tried multipl pictures, so I will do them seperately. Here is an example of the Black in Line Y strainer and also the solenoid Plug ins
This shows the horizontal water line for pumping stations as well as horizontal air line as well as better biew of outlets used for both air and water solenoids
This shows the "T" where the hot and cold water line come together to adjust temp of water feeding pumping stations
Long view. Note 2 closest stations with small hose to hydrominders. This is the ultra lean kit. I use the Kleen Rite product direct from the pail without diluting with 10 gal of water to 5 gallons of product first.
