Extractor repair

My Galaxy carpet extractor was losing suction, so I tore it apart to see if a vac motor wasn't working. Both motors were working fine, and I had plenty of suction at the hose coming directly off both motors.

So I checked every hose in between the motors and nozzle. All okay. Then I remembered something in the manual about the gasket around the recovery tank lid. I checked that and it was worn out. I removed all the old gasket and bought a roll of closed cell foam gasket at ACE hardware for $3.86. Made a new gasket and Voila!; plenty of suction now!

I should've checked the gasket first. Now I know how to tear down a Galaxy carpet extractor, though.
