hydraulic hose ends

If your hydraulic fittings including hose ends are not stainless steel go to a plumbing supply house and ask for gas pipe riser tape. Remove rust from fittings with a small sandblast kit or air driven wire wheel tool. Paint fittings with cold galvanizing spray paint you can get from a welding shop. Wrap the connection with the tape when paint is dry. If it is a new connection and open go to an electric supply house and get large diameter heat shrink tubing. Slide sleeving over connection once made and heat gently with a torch till it oozes.

I think this is a good subject - how do you handle the swivel connection, either method, the tape or heat shrink tube would be a pain to unwrap when you are servicing the equipment.

Rip I just use a wire wheel on a pneumatic die grinder. Run it down one side and it peels off like tubing off a hose barb. Use the same method to strip tape from electrical burndies connectors and as mentioned hose from hose barbs. The swivel joints work alot better then when they are frozen together with rust.
