Broken Mirror Repair

Grand Ams, Cavaliers, and other GM black plastic mirrors that have 3 bolts for attachment are often broken outside the wash without the customers' knowledge. I see them come in taped, glued and screw also If just one of the three bolts are broken your wraps and side washers will break the rest.
If you are willing to remove some door panels you can fix this for the customer such that they'll never have another problem. The materials are available at your local paint/body supply house. Duramix 4050 is a fiberglass epoxy used to repair plastic body parts. The material cost to fix a dozen mirrors will be about $60.
You have to remove the all three bolts from the inside. (Sometimes that involves the door panel, sometimes not) Postion them on the back of the mirror and epoxy a little mountain around each base. Duramix dries in about 1 min and cures in 2 hours. It hardens in the mixing tube($1) quickly, so you must leave the tube on until your next usage.
You'll find a lot of uses for this unique material.

I've ordered from Carolina Supply. The ususal culprits GMC, OLDS, Chevy s10, blazzer, jimmy and bravado. They cost from $20-$35. The local u-pull it charge twice that.

I wish that they would have recalled the Grand AM for their problem. I had to eat 5-6 of them for damage that I didn't do.
