After being run out of autocareforum with pitchforks and rocks I have decided to give this site a chance. I don't own a car wash but I love studying businesses and business models. I am hear to learn and soak up information. FYI: don't question the kingpin at ACF or they get nasty.

For the record, you were not "run off." Bill made a comment that most of your posts were comments about how much money he makes from running his forum. For what reason did you do the math and post the result of what he made from an advertiser? In one thread you complained when he said that in order for him to fill your request of free flights to Vegas he'd have to charge membership dues. Honestly, it's none of your business whether or not his advertisers pay him enough to give away airline tickets. For that matter, how would you have him rate his "most valuable members," as you put it?

reply by SpeedyJr about 1 year ago

MEP1, if he feels like he was run off or unwelcome thats also his own business, just like how Bill makes his money is Bill's business. The last thing I want is cross site antics, so lets all play nice.

People in the forums contribute knowledge to be shared. They can do this as they are in the business and can lend first hand experience that is hard to obtain anywhere else. Putting forth that effort is appreciated, of course.

In your case, you do not own a car wash, and I didn't see any posts that contributed any industry knowledge to others. Since you are not part of the industry, and have not contributed, was it really appropriate to publicly suggest that anyone pony up free airline tickets to anywhere, much less try to analyze and publicize revenue?

In addition to your love for studying business models, I'd suggest falling in love with studying tact and grace. That was missing elsewhere and is missing in your first post here which was designed to deride someone else-- which was brought on by your behavior.

BigSudz, as a member or visitor of a these type sites I am the audience these advertisers are trying to reach. I might not contribute posts/topis and car wash related information but I do provide the stats that get the admin paid and allow them to keep the site live so you can use it as well.

I am apart of this industry I am just gazing at it from a far. I am sure you were a newbie at some point.

So I shouldn't have input for a site I use? Giving a site owner feedback on their site is key to keeping fresh ideas going. I think my comments to autocareforum's owner weren't over the line, I was and am amazed at how he has made such a hobby a lucrative thing and I tip my hat to him.

If suggesting new / interesting ideas to an owner of a business is wrong, I am guilty as charged.

My advice was to give back to the community with prizes, I even mention I was not deserving of such an award but many are. How is that such a horrible thing?

reply by washr about 1 year ago

I will reply to myself, I thought of something to add.

Emails, Posts, any typed words can sound differently to the reader than what was intended. I am sure if you met me I am extremely likable. As I mentioned on autocareforum, my comments were more of amazement of his site financial rewards and nothing more.

I even tried to get into the political debates over there, they seem to be what is popular there. I asked a political question with the best car wash twist I could think of and that wasn't greeted kindly. So I left.

I think it was more of a newbie seemingly stepping out of line and not kissing butt that made people upset. Now I am a horrible villain that visits car wash forums please pardon my comments.

I'm sure you are a swell guy, and are not the victim that is perhaps perceived.

Like many others, the other forum has an easy to access feature whereby you can email comments directly to the person who posted. You can also easily email the forum operator. So, given the choice of a private or public contact with the forum operator, you chose to make a public post examining his "financial laundry" and suggested methods that would spend his money in accordance with your ideas. Your ideas might very well have merit, but I believe you chose the wrong fork in the road on how to present it.

No, I have no affiliation with Bill, and have no vested interest in the business or with defending him. I'm just stating what looks obvious to me.

The fact that you announced your arrival here by critizing him says more about this than I could ever say.

What was your political commentary with a car wash twist?

reply by washr about 1 year ago

I asked "What Bush policies/actions have directly effected car washing"...the post was ignored and a couple said to delete it. I didn't think it was anything bad considering the other political talk.

I only state the obvious about autocareforum's newbie interaction, its a bully-ish mindset run by a group of 5 or so people.

I also only stated the obvious about that cheese-ball "billboard" page. Obviously thats how much money is made from it its plainly listed on the site for all to see.

I did not list my email address to the public because spammers can spider that site and harvest email addresses easily due to the forum being old and out of date. I did however list it in my profile I am sure Bill can see it in users list.

Also please don't make my suggestions especially when I asked bill in my first post Hey Bill, why don't you fly some of your most valuable members out to Vegas? How was that demanding? I am so totally confused. It was a suggestion, I was giving feedback, no matter how you try to sway my comments they were feedback, there is nothing wrong with feedback.

I am done defending myself hopefully, I shouldn't have mentioned autocareforum here. My apologizes to SpeedyJr and the rest of the gang, I will return to lurking since I am "not apart of this industry".

The political post to which you refer was posted in an area that is not designated for political discussion. The post was ignored because it's well-known that political discussions belong in their appropriate sub-forum. You were told to take it to the appropriate section, nothing more.

Who said your post about free airline tickets was demanding?

reply by Axxlrod about 1 year ago

So washr, you're not a part of our industry, but yet you named yourself "washr". You say you enjoy visiting sites like these because you enjoy studying business models. From what I've read on both sites, you haven't made one post that has to do with how our industry works. All you've done is try to "stir the pot". There is a name for people on internet forums that contribute nothing but strife: Troll. Maybe you should think about changing your name...

reply by benscarwash about 1 year ago

Wow,

Washr, I am well akin to political contraversy on ACF! I'm usually in the middle of it or somehow caused it, but yes I am a contributor in the other sections. Somethings are learned hard.... I know when to back off these guys, I've only had one post deleted in 3 years. I never tangle with Bill or cry foul to him in E-mail exchanges... it's his site and I am only a guest at his behest.

The ones hear who have responded and I banter back and forth on ACF... when I piss them off, I try to appologize... it's not my intent to make them my friend or my enemy, but to balance things out once in the while (ok all the time)!

Pat & I are most hated there... I think we have awards coming or an air line ticket out of this country but some of the members there!

Anyway, I try not to bring problems here to Speedy. And as long as others restrain from slaming on party over another I will continue to do so here.

I read your post and agreed that it needed to be moved to the "nothing to do with car washing" section. Your free airline comment didn't bother me put it was intrusive to state the finical impact that Bill was getting from advertisers.

Apparently this is what the long threads about rules is over at ACF.

reply by benscarwash about 1 year ago

I would also add that a year ago, when speedy started this site a post did post here only political comments. He got slammed quickly and I don't see him anymore. I would say that he was a troll.

reply by Rykopro about 1 year ago

I did not mean to welcome a troll! As a distributor I like to stay out of the political arguments and rants. I do not think this is the place to discuss the other forum (good or bad)out of respect to Speedy.
I will say I love this site and how easy it is to post pictures in a thread. I love the fact I can self promote anything I want. This site just gets better and better!
Thanks Speedy!!!

reply by Rykopro about 1 year ago

I only said welcome home because I thought he was thrown out because of a poilitical rant. I stay out of that area and did not realize he was complaining about Bill. Please remove my previos post.
