My Spare Time

I'm pretty excited that my band, Unit 7, will be doing some recording tonite at rehearsal.

I enjoy being a part-time musician because it gives me a creative outlet where I can express myself and free my mind from all else.

I'm not pictured here, but this is the band, minus a few people(there are 9 members now!).

what genre of music is it?

funk, soul and jazz. instruments are; drums, bass, guitar, 3 saxes, keyboards,percussion and vocals.

My daughters this weekend did their solo ensamble for middle school.

Courtney (my 13 year old) plays the flute for band and is ALL COUNTY. She got an EXCELLENT from a tough judge for her solo. Her trio got a SUPERIOR which was fantastic to hear. She also play the bass drum in marching band and is completing her 5 year of piano and doing very well at that. She plays for church and sings in the youth choir too.

Miranda (my 11 year old) picked up the alto sax last August and the clarinet last July. As part of her gifted studies the goe to the middle school with Courtney (she's in 5th grade) and plays with the ADVANCED BAND with 7th & 8th graders! She also did the middle school solo ensamble (did I mention she's in elementry school?) and received a SUPERIOR on the ALTO SAX. She loves jazz and can improvise like no child I've seen. The band instructor's son (who has a jazz band) and his assistant volunteer (Valarie Gillispe... go out and get her disc) have thaken Miranda under their wings. Miranda is now picking up the flute and plays piano also.

Ben, my son, plays a little gutar but quite lessons. He's getting back into it soon.

I play the radio both FM and AM.

I loved that Speedy... I cant't play anything either. My wife can play almost any reeded instrument, organ, some piano.

I sang in a boy choir when I was young.
