Benny's CarWash Express - 8 acres

I would like to thank Mr. Alford for allowing me to document his locations. He has also allowed me to upload a drawling of his equipment layout for his 180ft conveyor. Attached is my homemade site plan. Benny's new location is an 8-acre lot with over 5 acres of concrete, 180ft conveyor, 5 bay quick lube, detail belt and gas station. Please notice the two sets of protovest blowers plus the wipe-o-matic drying system from Sonny's. His vacuums are open to the public and feature Speedy Dirt Dumpers, an inline vacuum separator that reduces maintenance time. This operation is a large version of his Perkins location which is shown on another topic.

Wow. What a site. I wonder what the final talley ($) will be?

I noticed a couple interesting things in the tunnel... tire brush with what looks like neo-glide material. What is that for? Also, it seems Benny chose not to go with the Sonny's Tire Shiner. It looks like the Hanna Tire Glaze unit instead. Speedy, do you know he switched? Also, I would think that two Proto-vest blowers plus wip-o-matic plus horizontally mounted elephant ear blower is over-kill. But I like the idea of using an elephant ear blower mounted horizontally.

Regarding the blowers, I know Mr. Alford wants to wash 200 cph (cars per hour) at that speed one blower might get the results he wants. I know he had hit 125+ cph at the Perkins location and has one blower and wipe-o-matic there.

After viewing the video again, I am confused as to why the elephant ear blower is at the beginning of the tunnel. It is the first piece of equipment in the tunnel. Why is that?

reply by SpeedyJr about 1 year ago

Its like an air curtain to keep the tunnel's mist off of the attendant.

Here is the site plan and equipment layout, I would like to once again thank Mr. Alford for this. You will not find very few, if any, operators in any industry, that would openly share their site plans and equipment layout. Its people like Mr. Alford that make this industry great.

The tire shine machine at this location is a Tire Blaze machine, not the new Hanna unit. The Hanna unit was at the Perkins location.

Just curious, but why is Benny not using Sonny's Tire Shiner? Jeff

reply by SErep about 1 year ago

Benny's has always used the tire blaze tire shiners. They also have a long standing relationship with Protovest for their dryers. I am proud that Benny's has chosen once again to use Sonny's equipment for all their cleaning components. They are a great family and its been fun working with them on this project.

Autocare, that's what I was getting at in my earlier post. It was my understanding that Benny's used all Sonny's equipment, blowers excluded. So I was curious as to why the Tire Blaze was substituted for the Tire Shiner. Maybe the Tire Blaze is something to look into as an alternative.

reply by SpeedyJr about 1 year ago

I think this tire shiner alternative is still made by Sonny's, just not publically sold, but I am unsure. I think he has the same setup at the Perkins location as well.

I thought the Tire Blaze was made by Peco. Am I wrong?
