I have a Rowe and it takes 1-5-10-& 20's
I have been told not to take 20's as it will empty me out to fast ????
What is the normal practice for a 6 bay SS wash.
We will be opening up Monday, I hope :)
We will be doing a soft opening with a GRAND OPENING later in the spring. Want to get it all right and ready before doing any big promotions.
Sure appreciate this site for assistance.
Thanks

I take all bills. I want to make it as easy as possible for the customer to get change and drop as many quarters as possible.

If it becomes a problem with non customers draining the changers you have several options.

First, you should always have more than one changer. Someone will certainly jam one at some points and without it you are dead.

Second, develop a relationship with a bank where they will let you trade bills for quarters for little or no charge in return for your business.

Third, use multi coin accepters and mix tokens with your quarters to stop non customers from using them.

Fourth, at some point you can always eliminate the ability to change larger bills.

If you already have a problem with changer abuse, taking $20's won't affect it much. Otherwise, it will likely empty a little faster, but remember that it also means that your customers are getting more quarters to spend.

We've always taken $20's and only get a dozen a week at most. I'd rather not force them to leave to break a large bill and take the chance that they go somewhere else to wash.

You guys are thinking along the same lines I was but the locals all say they will use you like a bank, well I would like to be their bank hehe.
Now, How many quarteres do I risk in the machine, it will take 2000 $ worth but thats a lot to risk....there is a robbery potential , the place has been hit a couple times in the past 7 years. I plan on visiting daily so would $500.00 worth of quaters be enough ??????
Newbie questions and I thank you for the help.

Depends on how busy you are. Murphy's law dictates on the busiest wash day of the year something will happen, you won't make it to the wash and will run out of quarters at 11am. Plus, it will get old real quick constantly checking and refilling the changer. I almost always kept full hoppers in my changers.
It is also easier to keep track of money if you keep your hopper topped off.

When we first opened, around seven years ago, we did not take twenty dollar bills. We found ourselves having to deposit half of a five gallon bucket of excessive quarters in the bank every two months or so. We then started to take twenty dollar bills two years ago and have only had to deposit excessive quarters maybe once or twice since then and never purchased quarters due to shortage. It made life much easier not having to clean and dry quarters to bring to the bank.
We also keep all of our hoppers topped off.

Your changer should accept $1,5,10 and 20 bills.
