Pump is not right in Tulsa
Hello
Greg & Jimmy and the gang it has been a while since I have been on here. You see I have another business that actually makes money. Since the wash does not make much but it get a little better all the time. I wish I could say each month but with the winter and now the rainy season business has stunk. It should get into high gear soon. I was in NYC for 10 days for a reunion as this is where I come from and where my family is. While I was there my 22 year old niece passed away from a massive epileptic seizure. It was sad.
Well I had my friend taking care of the wash while I was gone and well you all know that no can take better care of it than you. So upon my return bay 7 he closed as it appeared that someone walked off with the gun. It was just unscrewed and taken off. So I have replacement guns in stock so I replace the gun, wand and tip. Put it all together and tested it and nothing happened when you activate the bay. I went to listen and the pump is not running so I used the test switch inside the box above the pump and it starts a tiny bit sluggish but it runs fine with the test button on. So I thought something is jammed in the gun so I took it off and tried to run the bay with just the feeder hose still no pump. ANY IDEAS ??
I have some other things to post but will do them over the coming week since I need to catch up a little. I hope someone has some ideas. The Dixmore time r works fine. I await your replys.
Regards
Bill in Tulsa

Start from the tank, check for any valves that might be closed, remove and test any check valves inline between the tank and the pump. For some reason it's not getting water.
Bill, sorry to hear about your niece...that's tough to get over. You have my sympathy.
I'm confused about whether you've got a water supply or electrical problem. Does the pump ever put out any water? Is it humming, like it's single phasing? May be a solenoid stuck? Maybe a starter relay problem?
Jimmy
Bill - Please accept my condolences.
Sounds like the starter is giving you a problem or lack of water. Be careful not to run your pump dry for more than a few minutes. You could have a bad coil in your starter. If this were the case then you would would only be able to get it run by manually engaging the starter. Your switch from the bay tells the coil to engage the starter. The normal process in diagnosing a no water coming from the gun is: nozzle, clogged hose, bad solenoid, clogged filter before the pump, belt on the pump, or bad starter. I doubt its the solenoid. Sound like a coil problem. If the starter was shot then test button would not engage the starter. Could be single phasing too. Do you smell anything ?

jim sounds like he may be on something you may have a bad connection on one of your legs check the junction boxes make sure everything is tight that happend to 1 of of my dryer heads 9-10 were working never knew with all that HP. till i walked under it to get a #plate good luck
Hello everyone and thanks for your condolences I truly appreciate them. Sorry to not respond sooner but it has been crazy since I got back. In regards to the problem with the pump I investigated the lines from the tank to the pump and they were fine. Then I checked the bay again the dixmore timer starts up but no pump or foam brush. So I start thinking a timer so I trade out times first one starts up with $1.25 solid the second goes gobbled gook. Then I go back to the original time and on comes the pump for about 30 seconds. Then off so I play with the plug and mostly the wires some more it comes on again for about 2 minutes. So now I got it a short in the wires maybe ? I play with the wires get it to come on for a full cycle now I can't get the short to happen again to isolate it and fix it. So right now it is working fine but I am sure I have not heard the last of this one.
I really tried with the wires to find the short because there must be one there. I will have to go at it again this week or maybe just leave it alone it's working "If it ain't broke don't fix it"
Opinions Welcome
Thanks to all
Bill
Bill,
Your connection of wires that plugs into the dixmore probably comes as a complete harness. The harness is not very expensive and you should have a few spares on hand anyway. Swap out the harness.
Joe
I would try to find the problem and fix it right away. The problem with something like a short is that it does not go away. The most likely time that it will go out is when a customer is in the stall (he or she then gets discouraged and leaves). But the odd thing is that when you go to check it, it will work. This can become a cycle that starts to discourage quite a few customers.
You'll find that the new harness will be different from the old one. If you change one wire at a time, you'll have no trouble hooking it up right, but you'll notice the old one has a black wire that just loops on the plug. The new harness will have two leads in the same positions, so you'll need to connect those two leads together for it to work.
