Safety Handout for my customers

We printed 10,000 of these and are handing them out after customers drive on. Our hope is that we will have fewer problems with customers at our expresses.

I have two a-frame signs on the lot that says, "Car wash $7.00 when you buy a 5 wash book for $35". I also have a banner that says, 5 Wash Book $35 - That's just $7.00 per wash." You know how many people come in wanting to pay $7.00 and not buy they book? Its truly unbelievable how bad public schooling has become.

If you cannot get a customer to read and undersatnd simple signs like these and understand them, you really think they are going to take the time to read this and comprehend it. Nice thought. Hey at least they have some scratch paper in their car.

Try instead to educate them about their vehicle, its appearance and the specials and services you offer. We do a bi-annual newsletter with many topics about their car, effects of the season on its appearance, importance of detailing etc. If I'm going to have them read something I'd rather it be something that makes them feel good about choosing us as their car wash not scaring the heck out of them. If they can't understand, neutral, feet of the brake and hands off the wheel and four other signs in the tunnel telling them the same thing, then they've got far bigger problems.

You're right...nobody wants to take time to read anything anymore...I think 7 words are the most they will read on a sign (according to marketing people). But my effort makes me feel better when and if I have to deny claims for colisions. If they could just pick up the principle of honking their horn when they think something is wrong, it would save me a lot of headaches.

I have two giant 8x12 menu signs for my tunnel and people pull on and we'll ask what wash would you like they will say oh I didn't see the menu! But if put free tire shine on the back of the sign some how they will see it I bet. I have a sign for no cell phones usage while driving on, we will not direct you on until you put the phone down and put in neutral. The police were tired coming down for accidents at my place. People wont read anything anymore but when they don't see the menu We explain the washes and we start with out top wash and usually if they are on the phone or not payin attention they will usaually say ya ya just give me that one, $15.95 thankyou!
